
Wizard Island sits to one side of Crater Lake. The Park Service runs a shuttle boat out so that you can hike on the island.

This island is called the Phantom Ship. It is the remains of a 400,000 year old lava flow that was covered by the volcano that formed Crater Lake. When Crater Lake was fomed, 8,000 years ago, this stub of the older volcano survived.

You can just read the GPS - 37 mph. Not even close to a record, but lots of fun on a road closed to cars.
